Same Durango Bike Project - New Purpose
Earlier this week my dad sent my brother and me a message that said:
“Just got done riding Phil’s world. Have to get it in before the Feds sell it”.
To which my brother quickly responded with:
“You’ll still be able to ride it, you’ll just have to Applepay Walmart Inc before you take off for your ride and pay another $12 for Apple VR but you'll only see the trees and sunset if you have the annual Outdoor+ membership. Otherwise it’ll be black outside the trail like blinders. But you can always just pay for a Peloton membership and get your outdoors at home. It will be cheaper and that’s capitalism”.
I initially laughed. But thought about that message for the rest of the night.
It is laughable until you realize just how real it might be in the not so distant future if we sit back and do nothing.
I knew I had to do everything I possibly could to make sure the sell off of our public lands to the highest bidder didn't happen. And to make sure my son has access to the same public lands that I have.
The Durango Bike Project Coffee and Bike Shop has always been a place that has supported the Durango cycling community.
Starting today, we open our doors at the Durango Bike Project bike and coffee shop with a new purpose.
Every dollar we make for our first year in business will be given back to San Juan Citizens Alliance and Protect Our Winters. There are too many existential threats to everything that makes this place special to not do everything we can to protect it.
Help us by coming by and grabbing a cup of coffee!
